Alaska Fishing Trips

King Salmon

Imagine the burn in your arms while tangling with the largest of the salmons amidst the unspoiled setting of America’s last frontier. Sitka Alaska has some of the best king salmon fishing on the planet, and one of the best catch rates in the world for both king salmon and halibut. This makes our Southeast Alaska fishing trips some of the most sought after by anglers. At Dove Island Lodge we offer Alaska fishing charters for king salmon in the bountiful waters surrounding our private island in Sitka.

Typical king salmon, also called Chinook, weigh between 15 and 40-pounds, but the kings caught on our Southeast Alaska fishing trips in Sitka Sound can weigh over 70-pounds! Silver salmon, also known as Coho, are known for their fierce runs and aerobatic displays, and typically weigh between 12 and 18-pounds. Pound for pound, Coho are the best fighting of all the salmon species. We also target plentiful pink, chum, and sockeye salmon on our famous Alaska fishing charters.

Amazing Southeast Alaska Halibut Fishing Trips

Imagine experiencing the thrill of hooking a true Leviathan of the deep, an Alaska Halibut weighing as much as 450-pounds. These trophy halibut are called “barn doors” for a reason, and are lurking along much of the bottom in Southeast Alaska coastal waters. On our Alaska fishing charters at Dove Island Lodge we can make your dreams of challenging these remarkable fish a reality.

Unlike salmon, who spawn and die at the end of their life cycle, halibut spawn numerous times during their many years and grow to astonishing sizes. While 200 to 400-pound halibut are a great trophy and worthy of bragging rights, the smaller 25 to 75-pound fish are often more furious in battle and make the finest of table fare.
