Fishing the Winnipeg River

The Minaki area has a reputation for world class fishing and wilderness recreation since the "Skipper", Leonard Holst, opened the first sport fishing camp in 1909.

Today, the Winnipeg River System still boasts a healthy multi-species fishery containing

Trophy Walleye,
Muskie
Northern Pike
Smallmouth Bass.

There are also Crappies, Tullibee, Whitefish, Goldeye, and Sturgeon in these waters. Trout are accessible in nearby lakes not connected to the Winnipeg River.

Many of our guests make the trip several times a year and have been doing so for several decades. In addition, In-Fisherman and several other fishing shows have filmed here over the years.

With plenty of bait and a basic knowledge of fish you can make your dreams come true!

Hunting

When you are fond of hunting, the Winnipeg River System and the Minaki area provides hunters all kinds of amazing opportunities. If you wanted to look for black bear, moose and a deer, you can really find one. (This is for the big game)

Northwest Ontario is a popular place which you can find the largest moose in North America. You can also see deer populations and large black bear. It can really give you an amazing experience.

And if you are also fond of seeing waterways and forest, then you are in the right place, the North Star Village also provide a habitat for an array of grouse and waterfowl hunting event.
