Winter Fly Fishing
It’s Never Too Cold to Fly Fish! Daily high temps average about 45 to 50 degrees from mid-December through early February so consider booking a guided fly fishing trip with us. We’ll be glad to bring along some hot chocolate or cider to keep you warm on the river.
There are generally fewer fly anglers out so you will have the streams almost all to yourselves. There are few things as beautiful as fly fishing a small stream in a light snow with icicles lining the creeks and the fish seem to love it as well. The Brown Trout are hanging around in the smaller streams after their November spawn and the Rainbows are beginning to stage for their spawn in early March.
Yes, we have dry fly hatches in December, January and February! Little Black Winter Stone Flies, Gray Winter Caddis, Blue Winged Olives, Blue Quills and Quill Gordons are abundant at various times along the creeks and rivers through the winter months.

Wild Ruffed Grouse Hunts:
Curtis Wright Outfitters offers guided hunts for ruffed grouse in a wild setting. A half day grouse hunt involves covering about 2-3 miles of mountainous terrain. Our guides have trained bird dogs, but feel free to bring your trained bird dog or ask about a dog training hunt with one of our guides.
