Råneälven Fishing Camp
In Sweden the Råneälven River is famous for its amazing pike, especially where it empties into the Gulf of Bothnia. It is not unusual to land pike and other fish here that measure longer than one metre. You will stay right on the water in a comfortable houseboat tied up in the Kängsö harbour. And tied to your stable houseboat is a rental boat that can take you to the realm of the large pikes in only ten minutes.
Season
The post-spawning fishing for pike starts in late May and continues to mid-June. In mid-summer you can find enjoyable fishing for both pike and perch, while in September autumn season begins and lasts until the waters ice over in November.
Other activities
Day trips to Luleå, Boden and Kalix or why not to Haparanda for a trip into Finland. Boat trips to Brändö Island and the other islands in the Luleå archipelago.
Service
Our fishing rental boats are all stable Örnvik 415 (4.07 m long) fitted with Mercury 9.9 hp, 4-stroke outboard motors. We offer guide service for our guests in collaboration with our partner Teilus Fishing.
Fishing equipment
The most effective fishing methods in the Råneälv River are spin, jerk, jig and fly. All can be used throughout the season from May through November. A boat makes it easier to reach the pike fishing spots. However, it is possible to wade in the river mouth and experience great fly-fishing. The best way for hooking large pike at the Råneälv Fishing Camp is to anchor your boat in the various running waters and locate the eddies. In these you should us wobblers or rubber lures.
Fishing regulations
Our guests are asked to use Catch & Release for all pike regardless of size, as we do ourselves. The minimum measurement for perch is 30 cm and all that are kept must be eaten during your stay.
