For those who like to fly fish for wild trout, or who just want to get away to a beautiful place to relax, ...this is the place to be!

Savage River Outfitters is located on the Blue Ribbon Savage River tailwater in Western Maryland and in the Savage River State Forest near Deep Creek Lake, a 2 to 3 hour drive from Washington D.C., Baltimore and Pittsburgh. In addition to a full Service Fly Shop, we have 3 river front homes that are fully equipped and are right on the river. All have spectacular views of the river and the Savage River Forest and are between the 2 highest mountains in Maryland, Big Savage Mountain and Backbone Mountain. From any of the homes you can listen to the relaxing sound of the fast flowing, crystal clear Savage river. Step out back and cast a line into one of the top 100 wild trout streams in America, or read a good book while sitting in a comfortable chair on the river bank, or take a hike along the river or hike up Big Savage Mountain which is right out the front door. If you are a bird watcher...come see everything from hummingbirds to eagles, orioles to wild turkeys. If you have wanted to learn to fly fish you can do that too. Get instruction right out back on the river from Mike, Charlie and Tony... or take a guided wade trip on the Savage or on one of the many other streams and rivers nearby, or a float trip on the N. Branch of the Potomac. Kayak on the Savage River reservoir, hike or take a bike ride....there is a lot to do and see!
