Established in 2009, we cater to vacationers and day visitors to the Driftless Region of Western Wisconsin. Trout Buddy is not your traditional fishing guide service as our primary vision is to provide a relaxed, friendly and non-intimidating fly fishing experience based only on your desires, physical ability and fishing background.  

We concentrate our "experiences" on the many natural reproduction Driftless region trout steams of southern LaCrosse and Vernon Country's feeding the Bad Ax River and Coon Creek watersheds as well as streams in southern Monroe and Vernon County's feeding the Kickapoo River system.
 

For the NOVICE or first timer who wants to learn a few skills we offer “experiences” that provide the patience, assistance and the equipment needed to have a great day. We provide the “how to” fly fishing basics including understanding equipment, the principles of casting, select an easy access stream to learn on, offer some helpful suggestions as the day progresses all the while providing the same level of client service and benefits that our more experienced clients expect.    

For the more SKILLED angler we offer "experiences" that include our extensive local knowledge, clean reliable transportation, a tasty tailgate or stream side lunch, deliver you to the harder to find Driftless "honey holes", give some assistance with fly selection, help landing fish and taking a picture or two. Unlike traditional guide services our first goal is to offer the friendship of fellow angler and we promise to not be critical, try to coach or press an unwanted "lesson". 

In 2014, we expanded our use of TENKARA fishing methods. Tenkara is very well suited for the smaller stream settings found in the Driftless and for anyone looking for a simple, productive, easy to learn way to fly-fish. It's both an ideal starting point for beginners but is a killer method in adding to the fish total. We are interested more in catching fish than tradition so we offer a more westernized version of Tenkara fishing than some more traditional devotees might. Goggle Tenkara to learn more...
