Guided fishing
On a typical day, your guide will drive you to the river of the day where you can fish during daylight hours (so the fish can be spotted). The drive to the river may be anywhere from ten minutes to an hour and a quarter.
Your guide will often implement a cunning plan involving a bicycle so you don't have to walk back to where you started fishing at the end of the day.
On your return home to the lodge, the bar and a drink with your guide await you before dinner.
The Lodge has a helicopter based on site to maximise wilderness fishing opportunities. It is useful to advise before your arrival if you want to fly during your stay, as it can help your guide plan your time together.
Fishing equipment
You're very welcome to bring your own, but to avoid the necessity to carry fishing gear with you, Lake Rotoroa Lodge provides all the equipment you'll need including:
- Men's and women's waders
- Wading boots of all shapes and sizes, clean and in very good condition
- Over 40 rods in brands such as Thomas & Thomas, Sage, Loop and Hardy (5 & 6 weights)
- Wading sticks
