Hawk Mountain Guide Service is located in a beautiful area of the western Catskill Mountains in upstate New York.  Our hunting trips usually take place on various private lands, although there are a few pieces of out of the way State parcels that have proven to be productive.  Our other activities take place on a variety of private and publicly owned property.

We take great pride in the quality of the trips offered and are confident that our rates certainly make them a great buy for the outdoor enthusiast.  We also believe our clients are entitled to an honest answer to any of their questions and concerns. We try to provide realistic information that will allow them to fully evaluate any trip they may be considering.  Children are welcome and we encourage clients to include them in their plans.  We will do everything in our power to make the experience one they will remember.  The State of New York has an ongoing program to increase outdoor activity access points for physically challenged individuals.  We fully support these efforts and are dedicated to doing everything possible to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy our great outdoors.

CLIENT SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.   We request that our clients notify us of any physical or medical condition that might limit their ability to participate in any outdoor activity in which they might be interested. This information will be kept confidential but it will often allow us to modify activities accordingly.

Clients may choose to have us either concentrate our efforts on one species, or to vary our fishing techniques for both.  These trips take place on reservoirs owned by the City of New York.  Long known for the trophy brown trout they produce, most anglers have ignored the super smallmouth fishery that also exists. Recently we have begun to receive more inquiries about this great sportfish and have decided to provide our clients with the option of fishing for them.  An “Access Permit” issued by the New York City DEP is required to fish these reservoirs, but there is currently no charge for the permit and they are available online.  After completing a brief application, the permit and vehicle parking tag is issued directly through your computer printer.  We have provided a link to the New York City DEP.

Only rowboats are permitted on these waters and there is an occupancy limit of 3 people per boat.  This is very deep water and fish are sometimes found suspended far below the surface.  We have the knowledge and electronic equipment to aid in locating these fish, as well as the equipment to reach them.  We employ a variety of fishing techniques depending on the species targeted and the water and weather conditions.
