Fishing

There is probably no other country in the world where you will find more fishing opportunities than in Canada. Our Lodge is located directly on Big Shunk Lake, an appr. 6,5 km2  (2,5 square miles) lake with crystal clear water. There is an abundance of Lake Trout, Brook Trout and Perch in this lake.

In our region, there are three main river systems, where fishing opportunities are great. One of these rivers, is the Shekak River, with a population of Sturgeons.

We have enough motorboats and canoes which can be used by our fishermen for attractive and eventful programs.

Fishing for Brook Trout, Perch, Pike and Walleye is great all over the summer.

Our big advantage is that we can fish in many different lakes and rivers with different kind of fish. Our guests are not limited on just one lake or waterway. Many of the lakes nearby are stocked by the Ministry of Natural Ressources with some spices of fish. That makes your fishing holidays to the experiences of a lifetime.

Hunting - Black Bears
Timberdoodle Lodge operates two BMA (bear management areas) in which our guests may exclusively hunt for black bears. In total we offer a hunting area of about 1240 km2 (478 square miles).

There is a rich population on black bears in our region. Most of the bears killed show a weight of 150-300 lbs. Nevertheless, bigger ones with a weight up to 600 lbs. are around.

We hunt on bait sites. For every hunter we prepare 2-3 bait sites and we take care that everyone hunts on active bait sites only. The success rates are outstanding. Usually every hunter gets his chance, more then 80% bag their bear.

Hunting - Birds
Bird hunting is simply superb in our region. There are only a few areas where there is such a rich population of Grouse. We have all three species here around Timberdoodle Lodge.

Hunt for Sharptail Grouse is on the clearcuts around. The Sharptails have their prime habitat there. In the thicker wooded areas, you will find the Ruffed Grouse and Spruce Grouse - and sometimes an occasional a Woodcock or a Rabbit.

Hunting - Moose
You got your moose tag and you are looking for some accommodation for your moose hunt? We are located on Highway 631 about 50 km North of Hornepayne in WMU 22. The Highway 631 is the boarder of WMU 22, on the other side (western side) of the Highway is WMU 21B. WM 19, 18A and 18B are a little bit North of us.

We provide our moose hunters with accommodation, 3 meals daily, a map, and we are happy to share our knowledge about moose tracks and moose sightings with our guests.
