Mountain Valley is a hidden gateway to the landscapes and legends of the Mohaka Valley; a magical rural retreat set on the banks of the Mohaka river, overlooked by the legendary Te Waka peak.
Just 5 mins off SH 5 (Napier Taupo Road), within easy reach of Taupo and the Hawke's Bay, Mountain Valley is an accessible piece of wilderness New Zealand in which to relax, refresh and recharge, well away from the pressures of the busy world in which we live.

As a rural retreat, Mountain Valley offers a real opportunity to reconnect with the natural world. We are surrounded by the legendary mountains of the Kawekas. The Mohaka river is classified as one of only two remaining "wild and scenic" watercourses on the north island, and is a mecca for our river pursuits, including heritage, white water and multi day rafting, and some of the best trout fishing in the world!
We take great pride in offering some of the finest adventure activities in the region including, rafting, horse trekking, fishing, paintball, claybird shooting, archery, mountain biking and walking tracks. This is in addition to all the great hikes and tracks you can access independently within 45 minutes drive from Mountain Valley.

Our aim is to enrich the lives of all of our guests, whether that involves simply relaxing by the river, enjoying active adventures on the water or on the farm, or chilling out in our bar and restaurant.
Fishing
The Mohaka River, it's streams and tributaries, have long been heralded as one of the world's finest trout fisheries. With over 3kms of river frontage running along our borders, even the armchair fisherman can enjoy great fishing just a stone's throw from our lodge.
