Mossy Pond Retrievers was developed in 2003 by Georgia native, Brad Arington, with just one dog and a dream. Brad purchased his first chocolate Labrador retriever, Bo, with the anticipations of having a hunting companion. He began the process of training Bo to be an obedient gun dog. After visiting several local dove shoots and duck hunts, people began to take notice and request Brad's expertise. Brad first compensation for training a dog was case of shotgun shells. The transaction started a fire in Brad and the journey began! In 2005, a twelve stall kennel was built and filled with a waiting list almost immediately. As the demand continued to grow another kennel was put on a 7-acre track of family land. The forty stall kennel was again filled with a waiting list. By this time MPR had acquired 2 more trainers on staff. MPR began running in AKC and UKC sanctioned events where they found success. Over the years Mossy Pond has expanded and currently has around 130 dogs in training with 18 employees. Mossy Pond has also opened another training and boarding facility in Marlboro, NY. Brad's love of hunting is very much a part of MPR. We hold many corporate events with activities such as fishing, skeet/five stand shooting, and guided hunts. We offer guiding services for hog hunts, turkey hunts, and quail and pheasant hunts. Mossy Pond Retrievers is an Orvis endorsed training facility and sponsored by Nutrena foods. Most recently Mossy Pond has built a relationship with Banded and Avery dog products. Mossy Pond sponsors a Youth Shotgun Team that is available to children from our geographical area. There are roughly 30 members on the team and they compete in multiple NSCA and NSSA registered events. All together MPR runs dogs all across the country in 4 different retriever games/competitions. We have 4 pros that travel from coast to coast 25-40 weekends per year.
