Fishing has been pretty good so far this year. Striped Bass fishing was very good for a while till the Strawberry Moon, and now it has picked up again with some big fish mixed in. Blue fishing is ok if you want to catch them, but otherwise they have not been too much of a problem. The R.I. Marine Fisheries Council has proposed leaving the bass, fluke, scup (porgies), tautog (blackfish) and bluefish as status quo for this season. . We are allowed to take 3 Sea Bass per person until Sept. when the bag limit jumps to 7 fish per person. The offshore fishing for Shark and Tuna has started and there have been many blue sharks, mako’s and some threshers caught already. We should be seeing some nice Blue Fin Tuna as well as Atlantic (Greenies) Bonito. This year charter boats are allowed to take 3 small Blue Fin Tuna over 27” to 47” and 1 from 47” to 73”. This change in the bag limit makes it worth it to go tuna fishing again. Hopefully they will be around and mixed in with the Greenies, (Atlantic Bonito), and some Mahi-Mahi. Bottom fishing for Scup (Porgies), Sea Bass, and Tautog (Blackfish), was very good last year and so far they have been cooperating this year as well. Bottom fishing is a great experience for young children, families and novices to fishing. These fish are easy to handle for children, and the nonstop action keeps everybody busy. I will even cook up some fish for you to try on the boat while you are fishing.

This year I plan to do some Lighthouse and Wind Farm Tours too. All you have to do is ask or tell me what kind of trip you are thinking of doing and we will see if we can make your wish possible.
