We offer quality guided elk and deer hunts on Morgan Creek Ranch. We are located in Game Management Unit #211 in Northwest Colorado which is an open bull area.  We have a very healthy population of resident free ranging elk and deer on the property and we use ethical, fair chase, as well as safe hunting practices.

Northwest Colorado Ranching for Wildlife (NCRFW) operates Morgan Creek Ranch located between Meeker Colorado and Craig Colorado. Morgan Creek Ranch is in the Colorado ‘Ranching for Wildlife’ program in partnership with the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The Ranch is approximately 30,000 acres of private land with some Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands included within the private land boundaries. We operate on the BLM lands by special use permit with the Bureau of Land Management.

This work of NCRFW would not be possible without the cooperation of Colowyo Coal Company L.P., which owns the Morgan Creek Ranch. Colowyo Coal Company, a subsidiary of Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, owns and operates the nearby Colowyo Mine, which produces over two million tons of low sulfur coal annually and is currently one of two primary fuel sources for Tri-State’s Craig Station Power Plant near Craig, Colorado. According to the Colorado Mining Association, “the Colowyo mine represents the very best in environmental stewardship and is a model for the nation.”

Because we are a ‘Ranching for Wildlife’ operation we have special hunting season dates and special hunting licenses for elk and deer.  Hunters are NOT required to put in to draw for a license to hunt deer or elk with us. Also hunters may use a rifle, bow or muzzleloader during their elk or deer hunt, making this a rare bugling rifle hunt opportunity.

Our hunting success rate is very high and we enjoy a 95% client return rate, so please be patient with us and we will do our best to find a spot for you if you are interested. We are a family run operation and run a family oriented camp. Ladies and youth hunters are welcome and frequent at this ranch.
