The lake is known not only for its beauty, but also that it is a very healthy naturally producing lake. Its large size and low level fishing pressure contribute to ensuring Horwood Lake will remain rated amongst the top for years to come. It has been the subject of numerous fishing shows but we prefer to think the success is shown on the smiles of our guests who have caught their dream that day and can’t wait to tell us.
Orientation to Horwood Lake
At Horwood Lake Lodge, we will give you one of the best orientations to your equipment and to the lake. You are provided not only with a detailed fishing and structure map of the lake, but also shown proven techniques & equipment we recommend. We are more than happy to review what works and doesn’t work with you and provide options we offer in our fully equipped tackle and bait shop. We can even show you how to bait your hook properly with minnows or night crawlers.
Hunting
BearWe pride ourselves on our high success rate and feel it is due to both our regimented annual baiting patterns – starting in the spring and continuing through the fall, Along with our management of the resource, only taking a limited number of hunters each season allowing our bear population to increase each year. We only take a maximum of 6 hunters per week, for 4 weeks so that we manage a successful bear hunt from year to year.
