The Thompson Ranch is 3,100 acres of beautiful Texas hill country nestled against the Colorado River. With an abundance of wildlife including: trophy whitetails, hogs, turkeys, rams, and black buck antelope; the Thompson Ranch is an experience like no other.
The ranch has been under strict private game management for over ten years, and is currently under the Texas Parks and Wildlife Managed Land Permit Program. On any average day you will see between 15 and 20 bucks.
Along with a partial high fence, the Thompson Ranch also feeds protein during the dry months; this combination creates maximum growth potential for the whitetail and allows us complete control over our deer herd. Our census numbers for 2005 showed we have 1 deer per 10.5 acres with a 1 to 1.5 buck to doe ratio.
We are pleased to announce that the 2005 hunting season was a complete success. Not only did we harvest a number of quality trophy whitetails, we also met every aspect of our quota....setting the stage for a very exciting and successful 2006 season. We are also pleased to announce that all of our Management Buck Hunts, Doe Hunts, and Hog hunts experienced a 100% success rate in the 2006 season.
The Thompson Ranch is looking forward to the 2007 hunting season. All hunts will be conducted by experienced and knowledgeable guides. We expect a 100% success rate for doe and pig hunts. And in addition, there are three management eight and nine point buck hunts available.
