Rusty Gate Farm, a 250 hectare mountain farm situated 1½ hours drive from Cape Town along the N2 towards the Garden Route, offers the perfect en-route stopover for tourists, but an even more special retreat for those wanting to spend more time rejuvenating their souls at this serene mountain top retreat bordering the Riviersonderend Mountain Reserve with its wall to wall fynbos and protea.

Conveniently situated midway between Greyton and Villiersdorp, approximately 25Km either way, with easy access to the “Theewaters Yacht Club”, “Theewaters Golf Club” or the shopping, restaurants and wine tasting in Villiersdorp or alternatively the more laid-back restaurants and pubs on offer at Greyton.

Rusty Gate Farm accommodation comprises 5 cottages beautifully furnished. Three of the cottages are two bedroomed (two beds per bedroom configured singles or double). Cottage # 1 is the largest with a “main en suite” bedroom plus 2 other bedrooms (two beds per bedroom configured singles or double) and cottage 5 is a more spacious version of the others having two bedrooms with a bath in the main bedroom. All the cottages are able to sleep extra’s on futons by arrangement. The two bigger cottages are equipped with bath and shower, the others have showers only. Kitchens are fully equipped with fridge , oven , microwave and 2 plate stove with all the utensils you will need . Each cottage has a large farm-style fireplace as well as a covered braai area. The 2 larger cottages also have fireplaces in the main bedrooms. As with all true mountain retreats, the cottages have no TV, radios or immediate cell phone reception.

Trout Fishing: The dam has however, not been stocked recently. These fish are for catch and release only. Nets must be used to retrieve the fish and only barbless hooks will be allowed.
