Asheville Drifters, LLC is pleased to offer a variety of float fishing trips and wade fishing trips for trout and smallmouth bass.

Asheville, North Carolina, is the gateway to some of the greatest freestone rivers and tailwaters in the country. We offer float fishing trips for every season and every skill level.

Asheville Drifters, LLC’ guides have spent several years guiding on the complex river systems of Western North Carolina and are confident that we can provide the ultimate float fishing experience. Whether we’re casting Sulpher dry flies to big brown trout on the South Holston Tailwater or going for the 100 fish day on the Watauga’s Trophy Trout Section, it’ll be float fishing that will rival most western trout rivers. If it’s the rod-ripping smallmouth bass fishing you wish to pursue, the French Broad River and Nolichucky Riverprovide world class opportunities for the drifting flycaster. Both the French Broad and Nolichucky also hold good numbers of the elusive muskie; the Tuckaseegee River and South Holston River provide us great opportunities for winter trout fishing.

The Asheville area gives way to an abundance of diverse wilderness wild trout streams. If it’s crawling from pool to pool casting big dry flies, or throwing weighted nymphs under cascading waterfalls, we’ve got the spot for you. Some streams provide roadside access for those of you who don’t want to take a hike. However, if hiking into a remote stream where few anglers dare to go is your cup of tea, it’s one of our specialties. Not only are you guaranteed to learn something, but you will be presented with numerous opportunities to cast to wild trout.

Winter fishing trips can make for some of the best trout angling of the year – PERIOD! Not only because of the lack of fishing pressure, but also the large amounts of insect activity that take place during the winter months. Our tailwaters provide us with some of the most prolific insect hatches of the year in January and February. We provide guide service throughout the winter months, viewing the season as a PRIME TIME for both float and wade fishing.
