Welcome to Libby Sporting Camps

Libby’s Sporting Camps is located in the vast North Maine Woods region of Maine.  We specialize in fly fishing for native Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon in small ponds and rivers, wingshooting for wild Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock, as well as trophy big game hunting for Black Bear, Moose, and Whitetail Deer.

Salmon, Trout and Bass Fishing in Maine

Libby Camps fly fishing and spin fishing vacations for Maine brook trout, landlocked salmon, lakers and bass are the finest in the East. Catch and relax is our motto. This is the oldest Orvis-endorsed lodge in Maine. No detail is overlooked, which is why the same family has owned and operated these camps for five generations. Great lake-side log cabin accommodations, exceptional Maine guides, home-cooked family style meals and honest Maine service is our trademark.

Trout and Salmon Fishing in MaineThe lodge's seaplanes access 10 outpost camps and 80 canoes and boats on over 30 different waters within a 20-mile radius of camp. Three of the best wild Brook Trout rivers in Maine are within this radius, the Allagash River, Penobscot River and Aroostook River. A short flight into a remote pond or stream for the day or for an overnight at an outpost cabin is unique in the East to this lodge. Matt's thousands of hours of flight time as a seaplane air taxi makes safety second nature.

Bear hunts at Libby's have experienced a 70 to 90% success rate. Baited bear stands are provided for bow hunter or rifle hunters. Numbers of active stands per hunter are never a problem. A guide ratio of one to each four hunters in provided. All transportation to stands and boat and motor for fishing is included. Bears are skinned and meat boned for the freezer. Each group of hunters has their own log cabin with bath right on the lake. Home cooked family style meals are served in the lodge around the hunter's schedule by Jess and her crew.

Our Moose hunt can be done with a rifle, camera, bow or muzzleloader. We hunt in the traditional methods used by Matt's great grandfather. Calling using a bull or cow call from a birch bark horn, posting on stand along a waterway or hunting by canoe are popular methods. There is nothing as exciting as hearing a 1200 pound animal returning your call and come crashing towards you through the alders, often stopping just out of sight and occasionally charging the hunter to within a few feet.
