Chad Kneeland starting fishing at the age of three, using his own method with worms and grasshoppers. His grandfather’s farm provided the idyllic backdrop for perfecting his art form. Around age 12, Chad was employing his own form of fly fishing, catching pan fish with hoppers from sun up to sun down. Just a couple years later, his life changed, when he observed a man using a fly rod in Branson, Missouri. Chad discovered there was a science behind the art he had perfected. He picked up his first fly rod at Montgomery Ward and hasn’t put it down. Since those early days on the farm, Chad has traveled the world, collecting gear and fishing. He has cast his line in Idaho, Montana, Florida, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Mexico, Belize, Turks and Caicos, Washington, Vermont, Tennessee, Louisiana, and the Bahamas.
While lounging in Puerto Vallarta, Chad and his wife Misty started talking about their dreams and love of fishing. Chad was working as a banker and buyer at a department store. It wasn’t his dream. They decided it was time to reel in the dream of business ownership. Chad bought The Ozark Angler in 2008, in the midst of the nation’s economic crisis. It was a risky proposition, but just like those days on the farm with worms and grasshoppers Chad knew he could devise a method for success. He hasn’t looked back. The Ozark Angler, which was created by Tom Hawthorne in 1989, is the premier fly and trout fishing destination for Arkansas fishermen. The Ozark Angler offers the best in gear and equipment and hosts guided fishing trips around the world. It has expanded to two locations in Heber Springs and Little Rock.
