Anadromous Anglers provides guided fly fishing for steelhead on the scenic and productive rivers surrounding Portland, Oregon.

The Clackamas River

The Clackamas is a top producing Portland area steelhead river and Nick's homewater.  With two distinct runs of steelhead spanning more than seven months of the year, the opportunity to connect with a fresh fish on the swing is ever present.  The allure of the Clackamas has much to do with the inexhaustible amount of swing water and exemplary wild fish.  Every cast feels like "the one."  Catching a winter steelhead on the swung fly is often the pinnacle of an angler's experience.  Casting and fishing instruction are part of the service.

The Coastal Rivers

Cascading through the overgrown and densely tangled Coast Range Mountains, the coastal rivers of Northwest Oregon comprise one the world's last intact spawning habitats for wild winter steelhead.  We love the coastal rivers for their proximity to the Pacific Ocean, for the chance to connect with a fish so bright and fresh that sea lice still cling to their scales.  We fish a number of rivers in this region, each with unique character.

The Utmost in Versatility

While the Clackamas is Nick's bread and butter, he also guides numerous other river systems within two hours of Portland.  Winter storms tend to render the rivers in any one region unfishable.  A short drive in the right direction, however, can have you fishing water that is in ideal shape.  Offering his clients the utmost in versatility, Nick's guiding repertoire includes Northern Willamette River tributaries, Northern Oregon coastal rivers, and the Lower Deschutes.  When you book with Nick you can count on fishing good looking water, no matter the weather.  It takes one hell of a storm to put Nick out of business!
