Florida Keys Fun Fishing is owned and operated by Capt. Mark Johnson, and located right in Islamorada, the centerpiece of Florida Keys Fishing. Capt. Mark spent his childhood right here in Islamorada as a destination for his family. Oddly enough, all through the 70′s, we stayed at the original La Siesta Resort and Marina, located right at Mile Marker 80.5 ocean side, in Islamorada. ” My parents loved to go boating, fishing, and snorkeling and they created endless family fun in the Florida Keys for their kids. My younger brother and I spent many a day and night as kids fishing, snorkeling and flat out exploring islands in Islamorada and that has created a passion that still drives me today 35 yrs later.”
In 1982, my parents bought a quaint little mom & pop style motel known as The Evening Shade. This “family project” was located on Lower Matecumbe Key in Islamorada at Mile Marker 76.2 bay side., and gave me the opportunity to see the Florida Keys Charter Fishing industry up close and personal. Capt. Mark received his Captain’s License shortly after high school and begin to really learn the ropes of the Florida Keys Flats fishing arena as well as Flamingo, Everglades National Park, and other backwater fishing styles that has made Islamorada special for so many years.
Fast forward 20+ years and Capt. Mark now runs a successful Florida Keys Fishing Charter business, located at the Angler House Marina, right in the heart of Islamorada. Florida Keys Fun fishing is exactly that, fun in the Florida Keys. We cater to all kinds of light tackle fishing from Fly Fishing, spin fishing, artificial, and even kite fishing for Sailfish, Sharks and Tarpon. Families, kids, beginners, and experts are all welcome and will leave at the end of the day with a very fun and positive Florida Keys Fishing experience.
Professional fishing guide Capt. Mark Johnson has been fishing the waters of South Florida for close to 30 years. Based out of Islamorada, The Sport Fishing Capital of the World, he spends most of his days guiding anglers on the spectacular waters of the Florida Keys, Florida Bay, and the Everglades National Park.
As Florida Keys Fun Fishing grew, Capt. Mark realized he needed help to accommodate his growing list of happy anglers. With the reputation for great customer service, Florida Keys Fun Fishing was born.
The Islamorada Charter Fishing industry is very saturated with fishing guides, some full-time and some part-time. Some have the required licenses and insurance and some do not. Some have a passion for fishing, and strive to provide a really fun day on the water. Other guides just watch the clock and tell you how you should have been here “yesterday“. Who would you rather fish with?
Operated by Capt Mark and his wife, Kara, Florida Keys Fun Fishing (FKFF) utilizes a group of local Islamorada fishing guides who believe in what we do: provide great service, maintain the nicest boats, use the best equipment possible, have great attitudes and personalities, know how to catch fish, and most importantly, have current licenses and insurance required to work in the charter fishing industry. We also can provide recommendations on hotels, restaurants, and things to do with the family, not just in Islamorada but throughout the Florida Keys and Key West.
Capt. Mark is a member of the I.G.F.A, (International Game Fish Association), C.C.A., (Coastal Conservation Association), and the Florida Keys Guide Association. Florida Keys Fun Fishing is dedicated to being involved with the local fishing community believing that the decisions made today will benefit the future of fishing in the Florida Keys.
Also fishing for Florida Keys Fun Fishing is Captain Andy Downs. Captain Andy Downs is from the island of Martha’s Vineyard where he was raised fishing the cold waters of Nantucket Sound. After seven years traveling the world working on private yachts, he moved to the Florida Keys to settle into the famous Islamorada fishing scene. He couldn’t have found a better more respected team to be a part of than Florida Keys Fun Fishing.
