Kiwi Wilderness Safaris offer three types of New Zealand hunts to trophy hunters

Exclusive Private Land Hunts
These exclusive private land hunts have clean private comfortable accommodations. We have access to properties that will have the potential to gain a very high standard of success and trophy size. In fact too date with this hunt we have been 100% with ninety nine percent of the hunters, and this maybe due to some of these facts.
– we do not hunt more than one hunter or organized group of hunters on a property at one time
– we do not take on the larger group size without having first class hunters as guides
– we are flexible at moving hunts away from severe weather areas
– we have selected terrain for this hunt that is not overly adventurous or dangerous, as some hunters in their later mature years have been able to obtain a brilliant result
– we have been doing this now for 30 years full time.
Red and Fallow stag are hunted on the less formidable mountains as often these species reside a huge amount of their time in thick scrub or established forest, both these covered vegetated areas are usually in the lower mountain slopes. Himalayan Tahr and Alpine Chamois on the other hand are true alpine animals that prefer the use of more open high country. A hunter would need be a fair shot, however we have the use of some 4WD tracking that often can close the gap to a reasonable walking distance. In most cases during these hunts a non hunting companion will make the grade and watch the action.
Best months: March to late July. The March, April and May temperatures usually range 5-20oC, no snow is normally evident. June and July the night temperatures will often drop below freezing though the day is frequently sunny with above freezing figures.
Clothing and equipment: Good comfortable boots, free fitting warm layers with warm jacket. Rain gear is advised. Camo and soft olive greens work best. We have a range of client firearms for free use.
