This year marks our 38th anniversary of service our clients as Sierra Grande Outfitters, Inc.  I started this business back in 1979 with a base of operations in Chama, NM.  Since then, I have hunted in New Mexico, Mexico (Sonora), Colorado, Utah, Kansas and Texas for elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, black bear, mountain lion, turkey, antelope, coues deer and desert bighorn sheep.

It has been many years of hard work.  Along with the hard work and excellent support team, we have had great success in harvesting many trophy animals throughout the years.  During this time, we have made great friends with many of our clients; some of which have passed on to the "Happy Hunting Grounds."  We even have some second and third generation clients hunting with us today.  I am looking forward to having our good friend, Mr. Fred Larson, back with us with year.  It has been over 20 CONSECUTIVE years with us.

There have been several "career" moments down through the years.  Going back to the early 1980s, Mr. Bobby Pidgeon harvested a 42" - 273 gross mulie!  Recently we have had 100% harvest on a couple of elk and archery deer hunts; filling out four hunters on each hunt!  Mr. Ken Teagle, from Dallas, Texas, was awarded 2nd place for his elk at the 2015 Pope & Young Biennium Convention in Phoenix, AZ.  The bull grossed scored enough to make both Pope & Young, as well as Boone & Crockett, all-time records!  It is the largest bull elk taken in Colorado in many years.

All of our hunting is conducted on well-managed private property where we have exclusive hunting rights.  By utilizing our system of pre-planned hunts on these ranches, it is unlikely that you will encounter other hunters while in the field.  We limit the numbers of hunters in the field at all times and a firearms safety code is strictly enforced.  We do not allow alcoholic beverages in the field during hunting hours.

 
It is our intent to honestly provide the services and assistance that will enable you to fully appreciate a memorable  and successful big game hunt.  Our hunts are a personal adventure for the true sportsperson who can be assured that his or her personal views and interests will be well attended to.  We have built a reputation for working hard for our customers.  Our repeat business allows us to get to know our hunters, their needs and what they expect from a big game hunt.
