Remote & pristine Mt Nicholas Station lies on the western shores of Lake Wakatipu & at the foot of the Southern Alps. The 100,000 acres of stunning landscape includes river valleys, native bush, alpine grass valleys and spectacular mountains which guarantees a perfect hunting environment and offers one of the very best genuine Free Range Hunting Experiences that New Zealand has to offer.
FREE RANGE HUNTING
A genuine free range hunt in NZ offers the opportunity to hunt the old fashioned way where you never know what you might see and with the overall experience being the most important factor. A representative wild NZ Red Stag is typically 10 – 16 points with nice shape & clean definition.
The free range Fallow herd on Mt Nicholas is possibly the best in the country & a hunt for a good buck in the rut is a fantastic experience, these deer are very aggressive and offer an amazing hunt.
Hunting chamois or tahr by foot is challenging & if successful, very rewarding. The country these animals live in is spectacular and many consider these the most testing of all NZ trophy hunts.
ESTATE HUNTING
While Free Range Hunting is our specialty, Mt Nicholas also has a very challenging high fenced area of 1000 acres which carries a limited number Red Stags & Elk at any one time. Red stags in this area are up to 30 points and provide the hunter the opportunity of seeing an animal not normally available in a free range hunt.
Seeing animals in this area is the easy part, hunting them is where the fun begins and our prices for these animals will be hard to beat!
Non hunting companions are welcome and we can arrange personalised packages that include both hunting & local touring options.
