In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, along the Colorado River, lies a 1,200 acre cattle and horse ranch that is home to River's Bend Outfitters. The nearby town is Burns, Colorado, but we call it God's Country for it is bordered by the Flat Tops Wilderness Area and the White River National Forest - both unsurpassed in sheer majestic beauty and tranquility. The area is wild, remote, and a paradise for sportsmen, fishermen, photographers, and explorers who wish to indulge in some of the most breathtaking scenery on our planet. For more than 27 years, River's Bend Outfitters has provided successful hunts to sportsmen from all across the U.S. and numerous foreign countries.

Established by Kip Gates as a family business in 1978, River's Bend Outfitters consists of 9 camps in the Flat Tops Wilderness and White River National Forest. These camps range in elevation from 8,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level and all have permits through the USDA Forest Service. The camps are warm, comfortable, and outfitted with quality equipment. The terrain is spectacularly mountainous, with unspoiled pine forests, abundant trout streams, pristine lakes, and beautiful mountain meadows awash in wildflowers. Hunts are also conducted on the private family ranch, which is a working cattle ranch that has been in the family for five generations. It is here that we raise and train the trusty horses that will be your companions for your unforgettable trek into the wilderness.

At River's Bend Outfitters, our goal is to simply do everything possible to provide you with one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime.

River’s Bend Outfitters specializes in providing successful Guided and Drop Camp hunt experiences. This remote and unspoiled territory is rich in wildlife and is a perfect place for sportsmen seeking elk, deer, or bear. Nestled deep in the mountains are nine camps that range in elevation from 8,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level and are accessible only by horseback. We use approximately 45 horses during the various seasons, to get our hunters in and out efficiently and to handle their gear. All our camps are by permit, through the USDA Forest Service in Rio Blanco County, CO.
