In the fall of each year, hundreds of thousands of migrating waterfowl arrive on the Katy/Brookshire prairie to roost in potholes and eat rice, corn, and soybeans left in the fields after harvest. Katy/Brookshire is on the upper Texas coast and hosts more waterfowl per acre than anywhere in America.
