Just imagine, your own private groupat Winchester's NILO FARMS, one of the finest hunting and shooting facilities in the country. Enjoy hunting ringneck pheasants, chukar partridges, and mallard ducks. Also shoot trap, crazy quail, skeet, Riverside skeet, sporting clays, 5-stand, and the tower.

NILO FARMS has provided guests withquality hunting in natural surroundings since its establishment by John M. Olin in 1952. But more importantly, NILO has maintained an ongoing commitment to the development and demonstration of hunting preserve and game management techniques.

To this end, NILO has contributed a wealth of new information to the hunting and game preserve community. Many of the land management, farm crop selection and rotation, and plant cover design techniques pioneered and developed at NILO are now a standard in the management of waterfowl and Upland game bird preserves.

NILO consists of approximately 640 acresthat include rolling hills of Oak-Hickory woodlands and submarginal agricultural land. Although a game bird cover of hybrid sorghum is NILO's most important crop, tracts of corn, wheat, alfalfa and clover are planted each year to preserve the farm setting and supplement the game birds' feed. This combination of wood and crop land provides natural buffers - and privacy - between the four main NILO hunting areas.

NILO FARMS will continue to explore and refine hunting preserve techniques as one viable solution to the growing demand for outdoor recreation. Although the "hunting preserve" concept will probably never replace hunting in the wild, it will continue to provide hunters with quality shooting as future land use and expanding populations make natural hunting harder to find.
