Stretched over the dunes of the Green Kalahari in the Northern Cape Province, FM Safaris’ Kalarabia Lodge is the essence of Karoo wildlife and ultimate luxury, a comfortable 7 hour drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Guests entering the unique Kalarabia Lodge are greeted with the stunning views and rich colour of the Nama Karoo. FM Safaris Private Game Ranch forms part of the Green Kalahari, consisting of approximately 35 000 acres of Natural Wonder. The Game Ranch has a very unique variety of vegetation types, which broadly classified into Nama Karoo, Kalahari and Karoo mountain vegetation. This variety of vegetation creates rich biodiversity, which provide suitable habitats for a wide variety of fauna and flora.

The Ranch forms part of the Northern Cape Wine Route.

Guests visiting our Ranch in South Africa need to book their international flights into Johannesburg and a one hour forty minute link to Upington. Remember, the Northern Cape is the safest region in South Africa and is also malaria free.

Guests will be met by our lodge personnel at Upington airport where your Kalahari experience begins. For the utmost convenience you can charter direct to FM Safaris where a luxury vehicle will escort you to the Kalarabia Hunting Lodge,  where you will be met by our friendly staff in the traditional Kalarabia way.

The 8 air conditioned chalets with crisp linen have spacious en-suite bathrooms and can accommodate 18 guests sharing.  All chalets are built in various traditional styles. A more tranquil green desert experience awaits guests at the Khoi San Bush Camp.

A trophy lounge and dining area with additional poolside dining and lapa boma will surely increase your comfort and make the stay even more memorable in a true hospitable South African fashion.

FM Safaris has both a private airstrip and helipad for your convenience to fly directly by charter plane or helicopter.  The dirt airstrip is 1,200m long and accommodates King Air 200/300 easily.

The vast, magnificent nature Ranch upon which Kalarabia is built, is home to kudu, roan, blue wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, springbuck, gemsbok, zebra, 23 different species of plainsgame as well as a fascinating array of bird life.

FM is home to many of the Princes from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. All our guests can expect royal treatment.
