Located in the foothills of the Southern Waterberg mountain range, Shakama Private Game Lodge is a piece of old Africa just over two hours north of Johannesburg & one & a half hours north of Pretoria. Situated in a malaria-free area, Shakama is set in a reserve of pristine natural beauty and absolute tranquility offering the best of African bush & mountain landscape views.

Christened after a rare wild plum tree that is found on the farm, Shakama comprises of three lodges on one exquisite game farm.

Guests can simultaneously be deep in the bushveld, enjoy the luxury of the facilities and have easy access to other desirable amenities – such as a world-class, 18-hole golf course at Zebula Country Club.

The Shakama reserve is home to a large variety of Plains game, Birds (including some rare species that breed here), Reptiles and Flora. Shakama Wildlife, a division of Shakama, also breed a number of rare species including Buffalo and Sable.

Shakama is ideally suited for eco-tourism offering clear views of game and an endless variety of natural habitat either from guided game viewing vehicle or walks.
