Retfontein is in the Great Karoo and is located in the Prince Albert district, Western Cape, South Africa and is the closest dedicated plains game hunting facility to Cape Town, a 4.5hr drive away. The property measures approximately 40 000 acres in extent and lies in the wide valley of the Groot River and its tributaries. The undulating topography of the drainage valley and the nearly 80km of riverine vegetation make the farm unique in terms of stereotyped perceptions of the Karoo as dry, flat and never ending. There are many sections of the farm where you pass through tunnels of overhanging trees, and running water is always to be found downstream from the natural spring which gives the farm its name.
